JOHANNESBURG – May 03, 2010 – The new partnership agreement between location intelligence, mobility and fleet management solutions provider, ST Group and Spatial IQ, a geographic information system (GIS) consultancy business that services the Southern African developing communities (SADEC), is set to enhance business opportunities for both companies in the government, mining and telecommunication sectors of Zimbabwe.
The agreement between the two parties will enable Spatial IQ to carry out its objective to provide the SADC market – starting with the Zimbabwean mining and telecommunication sectors – with a full spectrum of GIS consultancy services in conjunction with ST Group’s skills and technology. These will include the integration of systems by making them spatially intelligent and the development of spatially intelligent systems utilising state of art technologies on platforms such as .NET, SQL Server and Crystal Reports. All these offerings will be supported by training for end users.
“The partnership allows ST Group to extend its footprint in Africa, providing us, for the first time, with a local presence in Harare. Spatial IQ, based in Woodmead, Johannesburg has a long track record in GIS/ location intelligence and with Zimbabwean, Kingray Gowera, at its helm, the partnership enables us to proactively look at opportunities in the government, telecommunication and mining sectors of the country. That is, we can now conduct business hands on,” says chief executive officer of ST Group, Alan Ellis.
ST Group especially sees opportunities for its ConnectMaster technology in the telecommunication sector. “Spatial IQ can now use ST Group’s skills to sell this technology and presentations to prospective telecommunication businesses are already underway,” adds Ellis.
According to Kingray Gowera, managing director at Spatial IQ, no problem or solution exists independent of context. “By providing the much needed spatial context through industry standard tools and solutions, the partnership with ST Group will assist organisations in Zimbabwe to spatially enable their businesses,” he says.
